About Caroline
I have always had a professional as well as a personal interest in supporting families, and I have helped many individuals and families build a roadmap for success over the past 20 years. My work has been focused as a counselor specializing in Family and Child Therapy, Child Development, as well as Collaborative Divorce and Parenting Coordination.
I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Family and Child Development from Florida State University with an emphasis on Child Life. After graduating with honors, I began my professional career working with children and families coping with terminal and chronic illness in the hospital and outpatient setting.
I went on to receive a Masters of Education in Community Agency Counseling from Auburn University. While studying at Auburn, I joined the University of Alabama at Birmingham Counseling and Wellness Center, where I provided individual care for a culturally diverse group of graduate and undergraduate students in crisis. After completing my education, I continued to work with children and families in various settings from community mental health and outpatient psychotherapy, to in home intensive family restoration.
After receiving my post graduate degree, I joined Chilton Shelby Mental Health – a public non-profit agency providing a wide range of services to families, children and adolescents through intensive treatment programs. While there, I lead the clinical team in all aspects of patient care including coordination between the courts, schools, psychiatrists and The Department of Mental health in an effort to heal the family and keep it intact.
I founded my clinical practice in 2004, focusing on supporting children, adolescents and families with a unique approach to navigating challenging divorce cases with empathy. My experience as a collaborative professional enables me to help my clients to resolve conflicts, communicate better, and define a path for their future.
